Webinar Recap: Measuring and Reducing CO₂
On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Rietveld hosted the webinar “Measuring and Reducing CO₂: A Smart and Free Approach.” During this practical 30-minute webinar, participants learned how to use vehicle data to gain insight into their fleet’s CO₂ emissions and reduce them in a targeted manner.
Start with Five Vehicles
Many organizations want to become more sustainable but get bogged down by complexity, time constraints, or a lack of insight. During the webinar, the speakers demonstrated that CO₂ reduction can actually start small and practical—for example, with five vehicles from the fleet.
Topics covered included:
- what vehicle data is needed to calculate CO₂ emissions;
- how telematics automatically collects this data;
- how emissions per vehicle and kilometer are tracked;
- how idling, driving behavior, load, and route choices influence fuel consumption;
- how data is translated into concrete improvement measures;
- how results are demonstrated to clients and supply chain partners.
The central message was clear: measurement is just the beginning, but the real value comes when insights are translated into structural improvements.
CO₂ Measurement and Improvement Program
The webinar focused on the CO₂ Measurement and Improvement Program. This program helps transport companies work step by step toward lower emissions, reduced fuel costs, and improved reporting.
In 2026, thanks to the truck toll rebate scheme, participants were able to receive a financial contribution of €500 per vehicle. This made it possible to start collecting and analyzing vehicle data without a major investment.

Collaborating Across Different Areas of Expertise
During the webinar, various specialists shared their knowledge and practical experience:
- Chris Bezemer discussed the rationale and structure of the CO₂ Measurement and Improvement program;
- Pleun Rietveld demonstrated how vehicle data can be collected easily and reliably;
- Edwin van Buren of Bricklog discussed analyzing data and translating it into improvement measures;
- Ari Blok of Braanker Transport shared the company’s motivation and practical experiences.
By combining vehicle data, telematics, analysis, and practical knowledge, an approach is created that allows transport companies to focus specifically on fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions, and efficiency.
From Vehicle Data to Demonstrable Improvement
Rietveld helps fleet managers unlock reliable vehicle data and make it actionable. With EasyTrack and the EasyDrive Add-on, insights are gained into, among other things, fuel consumption, idling, driving behavior, and vehicle usage. This data can be used for reporting and for providing targeted coaching to drivers.
Together with our knowledge and analytics partners, we ensure that data is not only collected but also translated into concrete improvement actions. In this way, we empower organizations, employees, and fleets with smart and sustainable solutions.
